How this content is made
Published because you should be able to judge the content by its method.
Primary sources, located
Every factual claim here is written from the source itself: the Code of Federal Regulations, the USCIS Policy Manual, the Federal Register, published decisions and official fee schedules.
Citations give the location, not just the name — the volume, part and chapter of the Policy Manual, the paragraph of the regulation. A reader who wants to check a claim should be able to reach the exact sentence, and a page that cannot offer that does not get published.
Two dates, not one
Each page carries the date it was published and the date it was last checked against the source. Immigration content ages badly and quietly: fees change, policy chapters are rewritten, courts intervene.
A single publication date lets a three-year-old page look current. The second date is the honest one, and when it is old, it says so.
What this content is not
It is not legal advice, and reading it creates no attorney-client relationship. It describes what the standards require and how they are applied; it does not tell you what to do in your case.
You will not find predictions of outcome here, or a statement that a given record is eligible. Eligibility is decided by an adjudicator on a full file, and anyone writing otherwise on a public page is guessing.
About the process
Who writes and who checks?
Content is written by Meritus from primary sources. Pages that describe legal strategy are reviewed by the licensed attorney before publication.
What happens when the law changes?
The affected pages are rewritten and the checked date moves. Where a change is significant, it gets its own page with the citation to the rule that made it.
I found an error. What now?
Write to contato@trymeritus.com with the page and the source. Corrections to substance are made on the page, not quietly removed.
Find out where your record stands
The assessment is free and reads your record against the standard USCIS applies. You get a written answer — including when the answer is that this is not your pathway yet.
